What Should We Pay Attention To When Painting The Base Film?

Nov 20, 2022

As the name implies, the wall base film is a kind of basic material, connecting the decorative materials that we can perceive on the surface, and the wallpaper base film is the base layer of this decorative material, which is used to seal the leveling and polishing layer of the wall.

As a material comparable to latex paint, wallpaper undoubtedly has a higher standard and can show off capital. Therefore, every household will have some wallpaper finishes more or less. If more, it is the whole house. The wallpaper should be properly attached to the wall. There is no lack of a medium, that is, the basement membrane. At this time, the basement membrane roars with responsibility and mission. So, what is the basement membrane? What are the specific functions? Are there any environmental problems?

The chemical composition of the base film is mainly acrylic acid, which has no taste and is relatively environment-friendly. The role of the base film is to seal the base layer of the original wall surface. When penetrating the base layer, a protective film is formed on it. In this way, the gypsum putty layer of the wall surface can be well prevented from anti alkali and moisture regain due to moisture, which will lead to damage to the wallpaper. Before the basement membrane comes out, it is generally painted with varnish, which is paint. Although it can play the same role as the basement membrane, it has a pungent smell and is not environmentally friendly, so it is basically discarded now.

Someone said that if you can stick wallpaper without brushing the base film, the answer is "NO!" Not brushing the base film means that your wallpaper will be directly attached to the base course, and the internal moisture will damage the wallpaper, and the external moisture will also penetrate into the base course, causing anti alkali damage to the wallpaper. Therefore, in the hardcover room of the developer who painted the screen a few days ago, some of the wallpaper has mushrooms. It is estimated that the base film has not been removed, and then the moisture will lead to the growth of fungi. Unfortunately, it is not glossy ganoderma, otherwise it will happen. Therefore, do not brush the basement membrane to stick wallpaper. Unless you want to do some sideline work and generate income, you must brush the basement membrane.

In addition, there are several construction details to be noted when painting the base film:

1. The roll coating of the base film must wait until the putty base course is completely dry, otherwise, the moisture will be sealed under the base film and will not volatilize, and there will be hidden danger of alkali reaction and moisture regain, or even the layer will fall off.

2. It must be painted when the weather is relatively sunny, otherwise, too wet weather will easily produce acidic substances, affecting the adhesion;

3. The drying time of the base film is about 12-24 hours. If the time is too long, there will be some loss of adhesion, which should not exceed 3 days;

4. Before painting the base film, check that the lower wall does not shed powder or attach oil stains, otherwise, it is easy to reduce the effectiveness of the base film, resulting in poor wallpaper adhesion;

Remember, in order to keep your wallpaper free from mushrooms, mildew, alkali and moisture, please be sure to paint the base film before pasting the wallpaper, and try to buy better base film and glue. Environmental protection starts from these details!
