How To Prevent Moisture When Pasting Wallpaper in Spring?
Nov 13, 2022
To do a good job of wallpaper moisture-proof, we should start from the place of decoration, and laying a good foundation can avoid many troubles in the future. So how do we do as owners? Let's see what can be done to keep the wallpaper free from moisture.
The first step is to choose breathable materials. At present, there are many wallpaper materials on the market, such as non-woven fabric, wood fiber, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), glass fiber substrate, cloth, etc. In contrast, PVC wallpaper is the most impermeable one, which is most likely to trap the water vapor discharged from the wall inside and cannot disperse. Over time, it will form large and small mildew spots.
The second step is to keep the wall dry. Generally, the new cement construction must be maintained for about a month before the wallpaper can be paved. It is worth noting that during decoration, attention should be paid not to allow non-standard construction to mix sea sand unsuitable for wall painting. Before pasting wallpaper, the base surface needs to be treated. If it is a second-hand house, the gap in the renovated wall must be filled, otherwise the wallpaper is prone to hollowing.
The third step is to control the paving quality. Wallpapers generally have various patterns. When paving, you must pay attention to whether there is a large gap between the two wallpapers and whether the mosaic is aligned. In addition, watering during paving will wet the wallpaper, and there will be some shrinkage after drying, so the expansion position should be reserved. The contraction joint on the wall shall not be open to the air inlet.
The fourth step is continuous maintenance. Do not fully open windows and doors during construction and within 24 hours after construction. Excessive ventilation will cause rapid drying and uneven shrinkage of wallpaper, causing cracks at joints. After 3 days of paving, pay attention to regulating ventilation. In order to prevent moisture from entering, open doors and windows in the daytime to maintain ventilation, and close doors and windows in the evening as much as possible.
